Purpose
The goal is to raise the profile of the AbbeyAutoline Commercial division to achieve the company’s objective of being the business insurance provider of choice by providing professional, knowledgeable commercial insurance advice to clients.
The Corporate Sales Manager plays a key role in supporting the Commercial Director. In doing so they will manage a team of Account Executives to ensure we provide the highest professional service to actual or potential customers.
The Corporate Sales Manager plays a key role in achieving and exceeding all group, branch and individual staff targets and promoting the company to the public.
They will be responsible for supporting and developing account executives to ensure they meet or exceed their individual targets. They will also play a key role in the recruitment of new account executives to ensure our overall strategy for growth and development is met.
They will also have responsibility for pipelining business to suitable insurers to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients. Increasing Account Executive knowledge by reviewing products and markets used to assist in the training of commercial staff.
Support the Commercial Director with insurer relations and developing key partner relationships.
Job Accountabilities
- Day to Day Management of a team of Account Executives.
- Activities include: - conducting monthly 121s, coaching discussions and performance reviews, identifying current and future training and development needs, absence management and managing leave.
- Ensure processes are streamlined across all teams within remit. Working with other managers to achieve same.
- Assist the Commercial Director to implement and manage improvements in productivity and communicate any issues impacting performance and where remedial action is required.
- Provide expert and prompt advice to new and existing Account Executives, regarding client insurance needs.
- Grow the overall AbbeyAutoline Commercial Insurance book of business through the acquisition of new Account Executives and assisting them on building their client base.
- Identify potential areas of business for growth or gaps in our insurer products and manage roll out and review of new products/insurers/processes.
- Maximise all sales opportunities including encouraging the Account Executives to identify areas for cross selling and up selling.
- Ensure preferred insurers / schemes are supported and manage product placement
- Ensure KPI’s are set and achieved.
- Provide training for both new and existing Account Executives in collaboration with the Commercial Director and the Training Department.
- Deal with any underperformance issues within the team
- Lead by example to encourage and ensure an effective, engaged, and enthusiastic team in the development of the Commercial business in addition to the success of the company as a whole.
- Resolve customer complaints in accordance with Company procedure, in a timely and professional manner. Liaise with the appropriate department in furtherance of same.
Other Functions / Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to FCA regulations and requirements in all areas of business operations and that the professional integrity and conduct of employees always meets Company standards and that staff are not involved in any conduct that compromises the integrity or professional reputation of the Company.
- To assist, including acting up when required.
- Maintain CPD (Continuing Professional Development) on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure client confidentiality is maintained and protected at all times.
- Attend at promotional exhibitions, training courses and external meetings outside company hours as required.
- Liaise with other team managers in relation to internal processes.

Role Dimensions
The Corporate Sales Manager role will develop the Commercial Account Executives, by supporting them to generate leads, cross sell or upsell insurance products and assist them to meet their individual targets. Along with recruitment of new Account Executives.
Key Decision-Making Authority (of this role)
- Context: Insurance is the primary function of the firm. As the commercial business grows this role is critical to providing the support required by the sales staff in achieving their sales targets.
- Key Internal Stakeholders: Commercial Director.
- Direct Reports: Account Executives.
Remuneration and Conditions of Employment
- Salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Bonus / Incentive to be agreed in line with targets post appointment.
- Hours of work; Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., plus any hours necessary to fulfil your role.

Person Specification
Essential:
- 2 A Levels or equivalent A-C
- CII qualification
- Expert understanding of Commercial insurance products.
- Previous team management / supervisory experience in an insurance or related environment.
- A proven track record of experience in the Insurance industry, including Sales.
- Demonstrate the ability to be self-motivated and proactive to achieve sales targets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to communicate to people at all levels using all communication channels
- Ability to build successful, mutually beneficial business relationships
- Analytical ability with report writing skills
- Computer literate
- Full, clean driving licence, with access to a vehicle.
- Excellent interpersonal, communications and relationship management skills.
- Commercial mind-set and ability to self-manage / work on own initiative.
- Persuasive and effective influencing and negotiation skills.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to take a pro-active approach to problem solving and decision-making.
Desirable:
- Completion of the ILM Team leading Award.
- Working towards ACII qualification.
- Candidates will be required to undertake additional CII (Chartered Insurance Institute) qualifications.
- Degree/third level equivalent qualification.
- A working knowledge of OGI software house.
